Where can I find stores for belly dancing clothes, veils and hip scarfs?

I am taking belly dancing classes and was wondering where I can get the costumes for cheap? I see websites but they either look fake or are too expensive. Can anyone help really need the costumes and supplies.

Truly understand you!!! It’s hard to know where not to order from or what to trust but online is your best bet.

    Check out these trusted websites:
missbellydance.com used them to get harem pants and hip scarf
moondancebellydance.com used them to get a choli
    shimmyshimmy.com based out of nyc
    sharifwear.com based out of nyc

    Hope this helps!

Ask your instructor if there are any local vendors that carry the items your looking for. In general bellydance stuff is not cheap! Expect to pay around $40 or more for a beaded or coined scarf. Sometimes people run deals so you can get them cheaper but that’s a pretty standard going rate. Veils often come as a veil and skirt set and will probably start at around $60 for the set. Finger cymbals are anywhere from $20- $100 depending on the quality, size, style, and manufacturer. If your talking about the full on beaded and sequined costumes… you better be willing to spend at least $350. Anything less than that is probably an extremely poor quality and will need to be reinforced or modified. For fancier costumes with more decoration or unique design expect to pay over $500. If you don’t want to spend that much I suggest buying used items off of somewhere like e-bay. You don
t get as many choices in size, color, or design but, you do get a better price (usually). If you don’t have a local vendor on-line is probably the only way to go. I would suggest checking out some well known vendors such as dahlal international, tuquoise international, sheherezade imports, pink unicorn bellydance supply, cleopatra’s closet.. (actually that last one might not be in business anymore). There are many different vendors. However, be aware that those are the types of prices you will have to be prepaired to pay unless you travel to somewhere like egypt where you can purchase higher end costumes for $250 as opposed to $500 or more.

Cheap costumes will always look cheap & the beads & sequins will start to fall off right away. You can find reasonably priced items, though, that will last for years [ the answerer who wrote that finger cymbals (zills)cost up to 100$ is way over -- the largest, finest pair of 'Saroyan Mastercraft' zills is 65$ with most in the 30-42$ range.] Anyway, l.rose designs offers skirts, dance tops, dance belts, veils, etc in your choice of colors & patterns & in silks, velvets, etc. I even wear mine for streetwear! These would be all you need for dance class & recitals for quite a while.— kingofthenile.com –for well-made, real Egyptian velvet or chiffon coin hip scarfs, very inexpensive & wide variety.– magicalmotion.com — for veil, coin belt, & zill Student starter packages plus the best beginner video series on the market. The top of the line costumes are at Dahlal.com so you can see what real quality is. Happy dancing!

Try ebay. I buy my hipscarves from bestlist, silk veils from a couple of different ones. I always buy on ebay cause they are so much cheaper than ordering online. I haven’t spent more than $15 for a hip scarf, $30 for a silk veil, $7 for harem pants, $10 for a chiffon veil. Pull up ebay and do a search for what you want: belly dance silk veil, belly dance costume, belly dance veil. Some companies are on the other side of the planet, but I haven’t had any problems getting them. I’m starting my own online store and until I get my wholesale stuff in, these do.
